These small power motors are commonly used in family fun centers or by amateur riders. However, some of these engines can actually reach speeds of about 50 mph, so do not let the term "low power" fool you. This may not show up quickly in your mind, but when you start turning sharp corners in a small cart at these speeds you will quickly understand how fast it really is.

Various 4-stroke engines have more power and spin up to 50 HP. For greater speed, you need to buy a 2-stroke engine, but the better 4-stroke engines can operate around 11,000 rpm and are regularly used in the National Championship class go-kart. Some 2-stroke engine generates as little as 10 hp or less, but some can also generate 90 or more horses to more than 16,000 rpm. Higher speeds of 160 mph can be achieved with these rugged 2-stroke engines.
