Go Kart Shocks

I have a Manco vortex go kart that Ive had for 3 years, bought in 06. The kart has the same shock that accompanies it. Im wondering if I can update Hydraulic (or filled with oil) shocks. Im wondering in particular if oil-filled shock will be too steep for my kart. Thank you
