Sandrail Dune Buggies. The most fun you can have with your pants on Have you ever been in a place where you can find sand dunes, and dune buggies? Somewhere where the buggies are allowed to drive on the dunes? And have you ever sat there thinking to yourself, wow, that looks hot?
Well it is. Owning a dune buggy is one of the cheapest and best ways to get into motorsport. And a dune buggy sandrail buggy is that you need if you're serious about going into the conduct of sand dunes.
A sandrail buggy is a specific type of dune buggy. There are, in fact, a number of different types of buggy, and a number of different places where you can drive a buggy.
For example there are strollers Street Legal, you may well have seen, and even all-terrain strollers are built to be street legal just so that owners can not lead them to where they want to go, rather than trailers. And show them a little buggy on the way too of course, because they do attract some attention.
And then there are all-terrain strollers are specifically designed for the conduct of dirt, steep paths, mud, for the pleasure-ground. And these trucks are different for the street legal buggies and buggies are also different sand dunes that are specifically designed for the conduct of sand dunes.
These are the sandrails. What a sandrail? Or, as one can sometimes call a sandcar, or sand rail. They are buggies that are specifically designed for driving on sandy soil, sandy soil particularly strong. There are a number of places where it is legal to ride on the dunes, and that is where you find the sandrails.
tThey are extremely light, with very high power to weight ratio and they use large flotation tires with high tread very important. These two factors allow them to travel lightly on the surface of the sand rather than becoming bogged down in it as a heavier vehicle, or vehicle with narrow tires would do. But a sandrail generally narrow front tires for it to bits in the sand during activation.
A sandrail has a low center of gravity, allowing it to lead to upward and across steep slopes without rolling.
All this is achieved by using an extremely lightweight frame, usually of tubular steel and a built in cage. There is no body on the vehicle, it's really just a frame around an engine and the engine is normally mounted at the rear, or sometimes mid mounted. The engines are usually mild with a good power to weight ratio, and often air-cooled engines VW beetle sometimes original, although modern sandrail dune buggies are now using more modern light water cooled engines, Subaru engines for example.
A dune buggy sandrail good not cheap, but worth the cost. It may have around 400 horsepower for a total weight of 1500-2000 pounds, depending on construction. They also perform well on the sand dunes that it is not uncommon to see 10 feet in the air atop a dune. A sandrail is embodied excitement.
So if you're in the motorsport and want to get into a (relatively) cheap form of motorsport, consider a dune buggy sandrail. If you buy at the right place, you can get a voucher for less than you expect, and be on the dunes in no time.
