Research Report China's urban rail transport industry, 2009 At the end of 2008, more than ten cities have rail on the total length of over six hundred kilometers. Chinese government had approved plans for rail transport in 17 cities, who planned to build 65 rail transit lines by 2015, with total length of 1856 km and the total investment in excess of 675.5 yuan (96 , 5 billion USD).
At present, the urban rail transport in China is in its period of rapid growth. From 1995 to 2009, more than 20 rail transit lines in ten cities have been in service for over ten years and the operation was 790 km mileage.
Recently, with the accelerated process of urbanization in China, the growing population of China and the expansion of urban areas, the process of construction of urban rail transport in China is also accelerated.
According to statistics, the total length of urban transport plans of the transportation system in 15 economically developed countries, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Nanjing, Chongqing, Changchun, Harbin, Shenyang, Hangzhou, Xi year, Chengdu and Suzhou etc., have reached 1700 kilometers with total investments of more than 600 billion yuan (85.7 billion USD). The line of rail urban transport plans in these 15 cities were approved during 2003-2006.
Besides the 15 cities listed above, another ten cities over, including Ningbo, Wuxi, Changsha, Zhenzhou, Dalian, Dongguan, Guiyang, Hefei, Kunming, Nanning and Fuzhou etc., are preparing to build urban rail transport, with provisionally estimated lengths of 1000-1500 km.
In recent years, the construction speed of urban rail transport in China has been very fast and many lines have begun to build. In the situation of urban rail development, cities with urban rail transport have increased from one to ten years and miles of operation were increased 43 km to 790 km from 1995 to 2009 in China. Shanghai and Beijing promises to present the construction of 40-50 kilometers per year of rail transport in recent years. The three largest cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou have broken with the Convention to build 4-6 lines in the same year with the investment growth rate annually over 10 billion yuan.
There were profound social and economic backgrounds for the circumstances mentioned above. With rapid economic development in China, it seems to congestion in large cities, traffic accidents have been increased, the environments have been severely polluted, the time aspect has been extended, the rear transport in cities affected rapid development. The city transport, especially transport in mega cities, had been teething problems. In such circumstances, different cities have chosen to develop their urban rail solutions.
There is huge potential for the railway industry of China Urban Transportation, which has attracted attention of many foreign-invested enterprises. Siemens Ltd., Bombardier Inc., Alstom and Alcatel, Westhomes Electric Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Corporation have joined in China's urban rail market gradually. Regarding the actual situation is concerned, Chinese investors urban rail prefer to cooperate with foreign companies funded, particularly the U.S. and European companies. In contrast, U.S. and European technologies occupy the benefits regardless of locomotives or structures. U.S. and European companies generally won in the bidding process.
The urban rail, as the important part in modern cities is the infrastructure essential for development of the city, which is not only important to weigh the evidence modernization LE.
