Vespa Motorcycle

Vespa MotorcycleThe purchase of a motorcycle, vespa, scooter or a cheaper alternative to buying a car? Is this a good idea?

I can not afford a car these days. I can not make payments on a car because it's too expensive. The purchase of a motorcycle, a Vespa or how to do in my situation? Which is better?

Yes very good idea especially since you do not know if the gas is going up again. I ride my bike when I can do it is about 45 MPG and my truck only gets about 10 MPG. You could probably find a bike on craigslist.com where you can see if eBay has something near you. You can also try your local newspapers. You should be able to find one for 500-1500 dollars.

You can buy a cheap but decent drive for less than $ 3,000. You can also find bikes under $ 1500 if necessary. The only concern is the ability to carry things (groceries and so on) and weather (rain bike is not fun, and the snow is absolutely awful).

A motorcycle or scooter can be an effective way of moving, of course, but as one vehicle? It can be a big problem there. Try to get a car, it will be better in the long term. Check for cheap cars www.craigslist.org.

Edit: You can find half decent cars for $ 1,500, just try to find someone to go with you who knows about cars. With cheap car like that, you have one of two things, you generally, whether it is really really reliable, or a total lemon.

In general, I would say no. Especially if it's raining where you live. There are too many situations where you prefer to have a car. You have virtually no storage space on a Wheeler 2, you can only carry 2 people and its just not practical at all THE TIME. If you live in southern Cali weather like then I suppose it would not be the worst thing, but otherwise I would buy a car cheap.

Yes, and it is a motorcycle or scooter allows you to save money on gas

Yes. So Cal is the best place in the country to drive a motorcycle or scooter. The weather is almost always perfect for that. The insurance is cheaper than a car and the MPG is great. If you can pay cash for a used one, you can get "sole responsibility" insurance, which is quite reasonable. Take a course in basic motorcycle safety http://www.msf-usa.org/
and you will also mount and feel safe while reducing your insurance premiums.
Just look on other people. Suppose they can not see you .... Just one.
